Silk Selections is a collection consisting of various silk fabrics made with numerous types of weaves and colours. All materials are organic, natural and comply with International Standards, coming with the coveted, Handloom Mark.
Matka silk is coarse handloom silk crafted from the excess of Mulberry Silk. Historically made in the states of Karnataka, the tradition took a similar form in the valley of Kashmir as well, where the spinning took a new form. Slowly, the art spread across the nation. The Sujapur village in West Bengal is the current heartland for this kind of fabric, the place we produce our fabrics.
The thickness of Matka Silk varies on the amount of yarn used and thus, the products made from it are known for their versatility. Our sarees are made to be especially thin and durable to provide maximum comfort and ease in wearing. To best maintain this fabric, it should be washed with care in mild detergent. Any attire made from Matka Silk should be kept away from direct sunlight which can prevent colour fading. However, our innovative azo-free dyes allow us to create exquisite patterns and designs that are durable to that detriment.
These sarees are made from organic and ethical cotton, as we made sure our production systems best suit the needs of the environment as well as the versatility of modern fashion. The saree comes with complimentary unstitched blouse material.
